For three days, the Public Establishment for Commerce andIndustry of Corsica welcomed partners of the OliveOilMedNet initiative for a dedicated meeting focused on collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the sharing of best practices in olive oil production.
The event brought together representatives from several Mediterranean regions, showcasing a valuable platform to strengthen cooperation and advance joint work. Discussions focused in particular on technical aspects such as chemical analysis and the identification of olive oil varieties, with the aim of improving production methods and ensuring high quality standards across all partner regions.
A key highlight of the programme was a peer-learning and demonstration session involving local producers Émilie Borrel and Françoise Ottavi. They shared their experience, presented their production approaches, and showcased the practices they have implemented on their farms. These testimonials offered concrete examples of innovation and know-how within the sector.
Participants also had the opportunity to visit local production sites, including olive mills, where they could observe processing techniques and better understand the different stages of production. These field visits played an important role in connecting theoretical discussions with practical application.
Beyond the technical exchanges, the meeting allowed producers and partners to benefit from shared expertise, particularly in areas that are often difficult to access individually, such as advanced analytical methods. The dissemination of these practices supports their replication across different production contexts.
The gathering concluded with the launch of a European olive oil network, aimed at fostering long-term collaboration among partners. This network will serve as a platform for continued exchange, helping to sustain cooperation and strengthen connections between Mediterranean stakeholders in the years to come.
