ELGO DHMHTRA organised a communication event at Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center
Every autumn, the olive harvest season brings us closer to one of Greece’s most emblematic products — extra virgin olive oil. Deeply connected to our history, gastronomy, and daily life, olive oil represents not only a staple of our diet but also a symbol of cultural heritage and authenticity.
As part of its awareness initiatives, ELGO – DIMITRA organized on 23 October a communication event titled “The Future of Olive Oil: Quality and Authenticity”, in collaboration with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC).
This event, addressed to SNFCC Members and the wider public, focuses on the modern scientific approach to olive oil quality and authenticity. Through presentations and discussion, participants explored contemporary methods of evaluation and certification, while gaining deeper insight into the role of olive oil in nutrition, health, and culture.
The speakers of the event were:
- Panagiotis Katsaris, Agronomist – Biotechnologist, ELGO “DIMITRA”
- Stamatia Nigdelis, Veterinarian, Department of Consumer Protection Inspections, EFET
This initiative is part of ELGO – DIMITRA’s ongoing mission to support the Greek agri-food sector through education, scientific knowledge, and the promotion of quality Greek products.
