The Preveza Chamber, in collaboration with the Hellenic Agricultural Organization ELGO–DIMITRA, organized a communication event that was attended by local producers and olive mill owners. The event was held on the occasion of presenting the results of the 1st period (2024-2025) pilot implementation of the OliveOilMedNet project in the wider area of Preveza, as well as the commencement of the project’s 2nd period activities.
Mr. Panagiotis Katsaris, representative of ELGO–DIMITRA, emphasized that the olive oils of the region possess natural characteristics that make them a model of quality and authenticity. Subsequently, Dr. Georgios Giannopoulos, Researcher – Agronomist, presented the protocol for implementing environmentally friendly techniques in olive groves and olive mills. The event was coordinated by the President of the Chamber of Preveza, Mr. Ioannis Bouris, who gave a brief overview of the project’s progress and the objectives for the upcoming period.
During November 2025, the project will advance to the second phase of olive oil sample collection and analysis (November 2025 – February 2026) and will guide beneficiaries in implementing green practices in the grove and in olive mill.
The innovative pilot actions will be implemented in all participating countries of the project — Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Albania, France, Spain, and Portugal. Moreover, free online seminars will be organized, and a digital “Catalog of Authentic Olive Oils Produced through Sustainable Methods” will be developed, along with a networking platform for producers and businesses, enabling them to connect, exchange know-how, and develop commercial partnerships.
Through the OliveOilMedNet project, the Chamber of Preveza reaffirms its role as a catalyst for development and innovation in the region’s primary sector, actively supporting professionals in the olive oil industry.
