The 3rd Steering Committee Meeting of the OliveOilMedNet project, co-financed by the INTERREG Euro-MED programme, took place on the 3rd & 4th April 2025 in Alentejo of Portugal at Vila Galé Club de Campo Hotel, by Casa do Azeite.
The project meeting opened on Thursday morning, April 3rd. This all-day session brought together project partners to assess the current progress of the OliveOilMedNet initiative and define strategic next steps. The day continued into the evening with a hybrid Peer-Learning Event designed to engage a broader audience of stakeholders and end-users. During this session, attendees were introduced to innovative methodologies of the project and especially to the topic of Authenticity of extra virgin olive oil. Stakeholders discussed with project partners and shared their knowledge and experience about the topic.
The second day, Friday, April 4th, begun with a continuation of the Steering Committee’s work, followed by an in-person Demonstration Event. This event’s aim was to immerse participants in the practical application of project outputs. The focus remained on sustainable production and authenticity issues, and included an olive oil tasting of local varieties, to highlight the sensory qualities of local extra virgin olive oil.
The day wrapped up with a guided study visit of the project partners to a local olive mill, where participants witnessed firsthand the implemented environmentally responsible practices.
These events underscore OliveOilMedNet’s commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration, and sustainability across the Mediterranean olive oil value chain. With participants from Mediterranean region and a rich program of learning and exchange, the project aspires to leave a lasting impact on the future of the sector.
