Successful organisation of the Kick-off Meeting of the project«OliveOilMedNet» in Preveza – Greece

The Kick-off Meeting of the project OliveOilMedNet with the title“Mediterranean Network for the Promotion of Sustainability and Authenticity in the Olive Oil Sector” was successfully organized by the Chamber of Preveza at its premises on 13 & 14 May 2024.

In the frame of the project, Preveza Chamber leads a partnership composed of public authorities, producer’s associations and research institutions, from 7 Mediterranean countries. Specifically, the partnership is consisted of: Chamber of Preveza, Hellenic Agricultural Organization ”DIMITRA” – ELGO-DIMITRA, the Region of Peloponnese from Greece, Casa do Azeite- Portuguese Olive Oil Association from Portugal, CIA – Italian farmers – Regional Association of Puglia and Assoproli – Olive Producers’ Association – Bari from Italy, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Corsica from France, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paphos from Cyprus, University of Jaen from Spain and Agricultural University of Tirana from Albania.

The meeting was attended by representatives from all project partners and  the associated partner ETANAM– Development Corporation of Southern Epirus – Amvrakikos– Local Government Development Organization. Also,the project officer, the financial and the communication officer from the Joint Secretariat of the Interreg Euro-Med Programme and representatives from ISE Mission participated actively.

During the first day of the Meeting,the President of Preveza Chamber welcomed all participants and afterwards the methodologies for the implementation of project’s activities were presented by relevant partners. On the second day, management issues were discussed and decisions were made concerning the next steps of the project. The meeting concluded with a visit of  the project partners to local olive farms and olive mills.In addition, in the first day of the meeting, local olive producers participated in an open event. The President of Preveza Chamber highlighted the importance of the project for the region and the Greek partners informed the local olive producers about the objectives of the project. The event was attended by thematic Deputy Regional Governor for the promotion of local products of the Epirus Region.
